Description:
Original botanical impressions preserved in stoneware or porcelain clay. All the incredible details are captured directly from the real botanicals.
This is the start point for all the botanical art work currently in production. All clayworks are signed, dated and one of a kind. None of my work is cast in clay or resin, they are all original impressions.
A chunk of clay is pressed out flat, botanicals or other natural items are arranged, then pressed into the moist clay. It is shaped and left to harden. The plants are removed prior to the first kiln firing. A glaze is applied to the impressed areas and wiped off the background areas. The clayworks are kiln fired a second time, melting the glaze into the clay body at approximately 2.200 degrees. Some of the impressed areas further enhanced with an acrylic medium.
The one of a kind clayworks are designed to be enjoyed as wall art or on a counter top, not designed to be used for food service.
