Porcelain Clayworks
All clayworks are one of a kind, signed and dated.
Original botanical impressions preserved in porcelain. All the incredible details are captured directly from the real botanicals. This is the start point for all the botanical art work currently in production. All clayworks are signed, dated and one of a kind. None of my work is cast in clay or resin, they are all original impressions.
The production process: A chunk of porcelain is pressed out flat, botanicals or other natural items are arranged, then pressed into the moist clay. It is shaped and left to firm up. The plants are removed prior to the first kiln firing. A glaze is applied to the impressed areas and wiped off the background areas. The clayworks are kiln fired a second time, melting the glaze into the impressed areas of the clay body at approximately 2,300 degrees. Some of the impressed areas are further enhanced with an acrylic medium. All clayworks are ready to be hung on the wall or can be placed on a countertop. The clayworks are designed to be enjoyed as wall art or on a counter top, not designed to be used for food service.
